My Story

I was born in Medellin, Colombia, where I grew up and graduated as Electronic Engineer from Pontificia Bolivariana University.

Once graduated, I worked as a teacher at that university for 6 months before going to Stanford, in California, to do a Masters in Computer Design. After finishing my studies, I worked for 15 years as an engineer in Silicon Valley. I was part of two startups, which were successfully acquired by bigger telecommunications companies.

In spite of an earlier life full with awards and accomplishments, my inner life was so conflicted that, in the end, I quit my job, even though I did not have any ideas about my future. It was the beginning of a (long) sabbatical to explore the direction I wanted to take in my life. I sold my house and furnishings and donated "stuff" as much as I could. I bought a small van with a bed and kitchen and went traveling visiting the national parks in the US. I love nature. This started in year 2000 and ended up lasting around 10 years.

These 10 years were a time of intense personal focus and exploration. It was a period were I had the opportunity to focus in my interest about the mind and why we are the way we are. This had been a personal interest since I can remember. I still recall when I was around 4 or 5 years of age, while walking by the hand of my father in my city and watching the beggars in the streets with their kids, already asking myself why them in that situation and not me...

By 2009, I decided to study Hypnotherapy at the Hypnotherapy Academy of America, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I got certified as a Hypnotherapist, Clinical Hypnotherapist, and Interlife, Natal and Past Life Regression Therapy. I also got certified as a Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner.

With a deep understanding of these tools, I went through 9 months of sessions with one of my teachers at the Academy at that time. You could call this a period of emotional re-birth for me. Profound changes, lots of emotional release from trauma and its associated limiting beliefs.

Around that time, in 2010, I also started to study another technique for personal transformation called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or "tapping", as it is also known). EFT has the additional advantage that you can easily apply it to yourself with excellent results (always go to a certified practitioner for deeper problems).

In 2011, I moved to Mexico to be with my life partner who had a great job opportunity there. While in Mexico, I decided to open my own practice. What started with just giving personal sessions to my clients, later expanded to offering seminars about how the mind and its mechanisms (including emotions) work. I got my certification as an EFT practitioner, through the AHEFT (Asociación Hispana de EFT).

Once we returned to the United States in 2015, I decided to write a book, expanding on the topics that I talked about in my seminars. That is how "Leading Mind" came to be.

My mission has now become, as I explain in the Home page of this website, to disseminate this information. It is crucial for humankind to make these topics everyone's knowledge, if we really want to have a chance to change the current conditions of divisiveness and inequality that we see today in this planet.
